Many children who receive free or reduced-price school meals are left without adequate nutrition on weekends and holiday breaks. CFA’s Weekend Snack Pack Program is designed to fill this gap by providing healthy, kid-friendly, and easy to prepare snack foods to children at risk of weekend hunger. Our congregation raised the money required to purchase the products to fill these snack packs. Young and not so young gathered today to assemble the snack packs.
Sadly, after 39 years of dedicated service to the community, our Parents Day Out program will close. On Sunday, June 9 during our worship service at 10 AM, we will be honoring this program and recognizing all who have played a significant role in PDO throughout the years. If you know of someone who attended as a pre-schooler, please tell them about this special day. We would love to have former students as well as staff with us that morning. There will be a church cookout following worship that all are invited to as well.
This Easter our youth collected Easter eggs in New York City, Hoboken, Old Tappan, Norwood and Harrington Park. we ended up with a collection over 500 Easter eggs or bunnies. In this process we gave out our donations on four different occasions to friends and those less fortunate. On our first outing we went to New York University where we gave out eggs to students, staff and faculty. As part of our campaign we had a stall with an Easter Bunny stop and we were able to stop, speak and engage with students about their studies and experience of Easter. Some of the students responses were recorded, and we wanted to share them with you here: “Thank you for Sharing the Miracle of Easter with me;” “Thank you so much that is really kind of you to be so kind;” “WOW! FREE chocolate!” “Thank you so much, I really enjoy seeing you all here.” “Thank you for sharing Jesus with us.” “Thank you for doing this, it's really kind”. “Thank you for helping me to study.” “Thank you very much for being here and sharing Easter. Well done and thank you. May God bless you.” After our visit to New York University we went to the townships of Harrington Park and Old Tappan where we visited the police, pire, local services and businesses. We gave out Easter eggs, invited the community to local church services and shared the stories of our previous UK #sharetheMiracle experiences. We also extended an invitation to our upcoming Summer Camp in July this summer. On Easter morning we went to the Hoboken Homeless Shelter and Hospital to give out over 300 eggs that we had received as a donation from our various donation locations in the city of New York, in Hoboken and New Jersey. We also donated some eggs to our partners at Jefferson Coffee shop and also to All Saints Church both on Washington High Street. We would like to place on record a huge thank you to all our donors, friends and family who gave given up their time, energy and efforts to support us along this campaign. We look forward to Share the Miracle Campaign 2020.
Discover Jesus in the Passover -- Come celebrate the Last Supper just as Jesus did! We have invited Mottel Baleston to present the traditional Jewish Passover Seder here at CCHP on Maundy Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 PM. Coming from the Messengers, Messianic Jewish Fellowship of New Jersey, an evangelistic congregation of Jewish Believers, Mottel will discuss the entire meal that Jesus shared with His disciples the night before He died. There are many mysteries in the Passover Seder. When we celebrate Communion, we are remembering the Lord through two of the elements of the meal. Mottel's presentatoin will demonstrate how all the elements of the Passover Service--the Seder--contains rituals which clearly point to Jesus as the Jewish Messiah. This will be a night that enriches your faith and the perfect beginning to our Easter celebration. All are welcome -- just come at 7:30!
Last night the "manly men" of the congregation cooked up a delicious chicken parmesan dinner as well as a scrumptious vegetable lasagna and a baked ziti with peppers, onions, and ricotta cheese, served with caesar salad and Italian bread and homemade desserts. The best part -- the fellowship they shared while preparing the meal. Approximately 70 people were here last night to enjoy the meal followed by an inspirational Lenten mid-week worship service.
We will start the next series of THE STORY sermons and small group discussions with Chapter 7 “The Battle Begins” on January13, 2019. In this section of The Story, we’ll be covering how God builds the nation of Israel and how the people of Israel have their ups and downs, show faithfulness and unfaithfulness, and have a colossal, unfortunate surprise. Small groups will meet to talk about each step of this scriptural journey on Sunday after worship at 11:30, Tuesday morning at 10:00, Wednesday evening at 7:30 and Saturday at 8:30 AM. These groups are helpful in driving home the themes and events of each chapter of God’s story. Even if you have not yet participated, please join us. If you'd like to participate, call the church office at 201-768-2457 or email [email protected].
Our puppets are gearing up for the next skit in front of the congregation. Please come join us on January 13 at 9:15AM in our puppet room. We have lots of puppets and fun learning new skits. It is a great way for children to express themselves, especially if they are shy. Open to children 3 years old and up. Any questions, please call Joan Hoerauf (201) 768-0733 or email [email protected]

The Community Church Ensemble (a group of any people who like to play their instruments 🎷 once in a while) will be performing Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24 on Sunday morning during worship, December 16 at 10 AM. We will have two rehearsals prior to that. If anyone would like to dust off their instruments and come play with us, please email [email protected] and we will send you the music and rehearsal dates. We'd love to have you join us! Not the best photo, but we had two violins, two cellos, a guitar, keyboard, piano, percussion, tuba, clarinet, and flute.
Our high schoolers have begun a program called, "Alpha," a video series created to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed environment with food and discussion at the heart of each session. All high schoolers are welcome to attend. The next session will be at Presbyterian Church in Norwood, 701 Broadway, Norwood, NJ on February 11th and again on February 25th at 12:30 PM. Bring a dish to share for a potluck lunch. Check out this youtube video for more information https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5N7H2T5Rmw
Thank you all who came to our Live Nativity. It was a wonderful afternoon with lots of old and new friends, animals, cookies, hot cocoa and the very special message of Christmas.
Five churches in the Northern Valley area have teamed up to form a joint youth ministry for high school students. The Community Church in Harrington Park, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church also in Harrington Park, Trinity Reformed Church and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, both in Old Tappan, and the Presbyterian Church in Norwood have hired Timothy Chew to be the youth ministry leader. Tim has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from the University of Bournemouth and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Bedfordshire, UK. He is the founder of Faith and Fitness International where he has created curriculum, prayer streams and sports network across London. He has been the youth leader, teacher and school chaplain at St. Mark’s Federation and St. Mark’s Kennington, Church of England where he trained, delivered and facilitated alpha (an experience introducing people to Christianity) and 24-7 prayer courses and led and assisted sports teams at under 13 and under 18 level in football, cricket, volleyball, basketball, and others. Tim has immense passion for the Christian faith and for all types of sports. He’s always looking for opportunities to introduce people to both. All high school students will be invited and welcome to join Tim twice a month at one of the five churches. Tim will begin this ministry on November 17 from 7 to 10 PM at Presbyterian Church in Norwood (on Broad Street) with a movie and general discussion.
